Welding and repairs on site

When the welder comes to you, and when it goes to the workshop

Small repairs — a cracked weld on a gate, a loose fence post, a broken bracket — we do on site. We need a power socket, or we bring a generator, agreed in advance.

If the damage is bigger, or the part needs proper grinding and protection, we take it off and repair it in the workshop, where weld and finish quality are better. A gate leaf that comes back straightened and protected lasts for years; a quick weld on site often just postpones the problem.

Repair or replace?

From a photo of the damage we tell you what we think. If the structure is sound and one part is damaged, we repair it. If rust has spread through the profiles and welds, a repair is wasted money — and we say so. Then we quote for a new fence or gate with protection suited to the site.

Welding methods

• MAG — steel structures, fences, gates and frames in the workshop.
• TIG — stainless steel and thin walls where a clean weld matters.
• Stick (MMA) — on-site and outdoor work.

After welding we clean and protect the weld — primer and paint on steel, cleaning and polishing on stainless. An unprotected weld by the sea is the first place rust appears.
