A canopy that suits the site
A carport in Podgorica is mostly about shade; a terrace pergola in Budva has to take sea gusts. So we start with what the canopy is for: shade, rain cover, café seating or a solar mount. That decides spans, post and beam sections, anchors and the roof covering.
Covering: polycarbonate, sheet, glass or fabric
- Polycarbonate — light and translucent; good for carports and entrances.
- Profiled sheet or sandwich panels — full sun and rain cover for parking and work areas.
- Glass — for entrances and terraces where looks matter; needs a stronger frame.
- Fabric, reed or plants — for terrace pergolas where shade, not rain cover, is the goal.
Structure and protection
Canopies and pergolas live in sun, rain and wind, so on the coast we usually build them from galvanised steel with paint or powder coating. Posts are anchored into footings or base plates; on walls we use chemical or mechanical anchors depending on the wall. Long spans and venues are built to drawings — see steel fabrication.
Do I need a permit?
Rules for canopies and pergolas depend on the municipality and building type. The owner checks the conditions; we build to the agreed design or project.

Corrosion protection
Protecting canopies and pergolas
Salt, humidity and sun wear steel out faster than inland. We choose protection by where the structure stands, not by habit.
